The Problem

Seeing a product is not the same as being ready to buy it.

The brief was a shopping app built around celebrities and tastemakers. Fans needed a way to find their picks, save products from different stores and know when they went on sale.

Our Solution

We designed and built the WishClouds consumer app. We integrated celebrity-curated discovery, fan interaction, wish lists across stores and sale alerts. We designed the brand and interface, then built the systems behind them.

Built to Operate

• Product collection across top brands. We built hundreds of data crawlers with intelligent background queues to collect and store product information.
• One catalog, not a pile of feeds. We mapped store categories into a shared taxonomy. Titles, brands, images, prices and availability followed one catalog structure.
• Price history behind the alerts. We stored price histories and kept each retailer's current product prices in Redis. That data supported sale tracking and alerts.

The Value

Fans could find a product, save it and return when the price changed. One wish list worked across stores. WishClouds was recognized in the South Florida Business Journal's Business of the Year awards and received the press coverage shown below.

The lineup included Natasha Hendstridge (Time Jumper), Nathan Fillion (Castle), Anne Heche (Hung), Mekhi Phifer (Torchwood), Jamie Chung (Sucker Punch), Michael Trucco (Revenge), Kelly Hu (Vampire Diaries), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), and Vanessa Lengies (Glee).

Sports stars

Sports tastemakers included NBA champion John Salley and Bubby Brister, a two-time Super Bowl winner with the Denver Broncos.
